Tomelleri S.r.l. - Telescopes

Tomelleri S.r.l. has acquired a considerable experience in the design and supply of high precision Machine Tools and Automation Systems for important companies in Italy and abroad, but over the last ten years is working also in the field of supplies for scientific research and astrophysics; in 1983 it started to participate in important Telescope projects regarding particularly their Support, Driving and Measurement Systems as well as their instrumentation and special devices conceived particularly in collaboration with the astrophysical Observatories of Padova and Arcetri and with the Steward Observatory of Tucson.

Here are some of the studies and projects carried out:

	feasibility study of the support, driving and measuring system of the GALILEO Telescope Project.
	feasibility study and design of the support, driving and measuring system of the LBT Project (Large Binocular Telescope).
	feasibility study and design of the support, driving and measuring systems of Radio telescope of VLBI Project in Matera.
	feasibility study and design of the Hardpoint for M1 of the MMTC and MAGELLANO telescopes.
	feasibility study and design of the hexapods for positioning control of the M2 mirror of the GALILEO telescope.
	design of the positioning systems of the M2 mirror for the T180 Cima Ekar telescope.
	design of the drive units for positioning of the de-rotator of the VLT (Very Large Telescope).

	Hydrostatic support system for the telescope of LBT Project.
	Adapter for the optical and infrared instruments for the GALILEO telescope.
	Hardpoints of the MMT and MAGELLANO telescopes. n Drive Units for the VLT telescope platform.
	Electrical Cabinet for control of the domes position of the GALILEO telescope.
	Electrical Cabinet for control of domes position of the THEMIS telescope.
	Electrical Cabinet and plant for control equipment for the azimuth and elevation axes of the T180 Cima Ekar telescope.

Apart from its supply activities, TOMELLERI S.r.l. carries out reconditioning, servicing and upgrading of existing telescopes involving both the mechanical and electrical parts, like for example the work carried out on the Telescope T180 of Cima Ekar in Asiago and on the Radio Telescope near Bologna, with the overhaul and substitution of obsolete parts or with the redesign and supply of new assemblies.

Thanks to the experience achieved in the supplies carried out in collaboration with the most qualified Astrophysical Observatories, the TOMELLERI proposes itself for future projects in this field of research.
